MOVE is an adaptive surface for eating, socialising, travelling, working and independent living.

The primary surface uses morphing technology to recognise the objects placed on it, changing shape around them for grip, way-finding and stability. The base of MOVE uses nano-fibre technology, which when charged with an electrical current, becomes rigid and will adhere to any surface! Remove the charge and the nano fibres relax, and MOVE is freed and ready for the next application.

MOVE uses gestural interactions and embedded lighting to display your options. Wireless power means it can live anywhere and go anywhere.

As the core technologies become commercialised, low-cost, low-weight versions of MOVE could be available within 10-15 years for medical settings, domestic surfaces and commercial applications.
